Soap Bars

Nii-Kii soap bars are hand made and created in small batches using traditional cold-process techniques with ingredients borrowed from nature. Bars are hand cut and cured in our workshop for four weeks. There are no harsh detergents, artificial dyes, preservatives or fillers in    our bars. The colors are derived from spices, botanicals and minerals.   Bars are deeply scented using pure aromatherapy grade essential oils or high quality phthalate & paraben free fragrant oils. We use only quality food-grade vegetable oils. A high content of olive oil is added for its moisturizing properties and ability to produce a creamy lather.

Commercial “soap” companies remove great natural soap ingredients   like glycerin, to increase profits. This process makes their “soap” more detergent then true soap. Detergent is harsh to your skin and cleans by stripping away the skin’s natural protective oils thus leaving your skin dry and leaving residue. Then these companies sell the glycerin back to you, in lotions that help combat the dryness from their “soap”. Natural soap is a great choice for everyone but especially important if you suffer from any kind of skin issue.

A really good soap is probably the least expensive way to take care of your skin.

Ingredients

Bars weigh 4 oz and are all cut by hand so they may vary slightly in size and weight.

Fragrant Oils – are man made scents. They allow us to give you a wider range of scents. Essential oils can not offer all scents we want to incorporate. Although they don’t come directly from a plant they are phthalate-free with no parabens, solvents or propylene glycol.

Essential Oils – oils that are extracted from plant material. Essential oils are the fragrant essences of plants in their purest, most concentrated state. These extracts are the plant’s soul and are a true gift from nature. Each plant oil has its own unique qualities and benefits.

Palm oil - it adds nice medium bubbles to the lather, and increases longevity of the bar. Palm oil is a softening, conditioning, and cleansing natural oil that's composed of fatty acids, vitamin K, and vitamin E. Palm oil is considered a natural anti-oxidant. It is produced from the pulp or flesh of the fruit of the oil palm tree.

Distilled Water - is water that has virtually all of its impurities removed through distillation. Distillation involves boiling the water and then condensing the steam into a clean container, leaving most if not all solid contaminants behind.

Sodium Hydroxide - also known as lye. Soap is made from a specific formula of oils, lye and water. A chemical reaction (saponification) occurs and after a curing time, the lye is completely neutralized and the soap is safe to use.

Coconut oil –its saturated nature resists rancidity and adds hardness to the soap bar, while at the same time produces lush, rich lather with snowy, white bubbles. Coconut is obtained from copra, which is dried coconut meat.

Olive oil – olive oil makes the best soaps. It is a costly ingredient but nothing can compare to a soap made with lots of it! Olive oil is highly moisturizing and gentle to the skin . It adds creaminess to the soap bar. Characterized by a high level of oleic acid, olive oil is derived from the fruit of the olive tree. Nii-Kii’s recipes are made with 45% olive oil.
